Is brass suitable for outdoor use?
Bare brass tarnishes outdoors and dezincifies in seawater, so we recommend lacquer, plating or moving to bronze for exposed marine use.
Why is brass used for electrical parts?
It combines good conductivity with machinability, and it takes plating that resists corrosion at contact points. It is the standard material for terminals, pins and connectors.
Can brass be soldered and brazed?
Yes, readily, using standard fluxes. This makes it convenient for assemblies that mix machined brass parts with tube or sheet.
