Composite Materials

Composite performance comes from the combination of fibre, resin and core rather than from any single material. This page sets out the reinforcements we use, which resin suits which environment, and when a sandwich core is worth adding.

FAQ

Preguntas frecuentes

Glass or carbon fibre?

Glass is cheaper and absorbs impact better, which suits most panels, marine parts and enclosures. Carbon gives higher stiffness per weight and is the choice where mass matters, such as motorsport and aerospace.

What does a sandwich core add?

A core separates two skins so bending stiffness rises sharply with very little weight. It is the standard way to build a stiff, light floor, deck or bonnet panel.

Which resin resists water best?

Vinyl ester resists water absorption and osmosis better than polyester, and epoxy performs best of all. Below the waterline we default to vinyl ester or epoxy.
