Questions fréquentes
304 or 316 for my part?
Choose 304 for general, indoor and food-contact applications. Move to 316 when the part sees chlorides, coastal air, marine conditions, or aggressive chemical cleaning.
Why is 304 hard to machine?
It work hardens rapidly under the cut, so tooling must stay engaged with correct feeds and never rub. Where heavy machining is needed we usually specify 303 free-cutting grade instead.
Does 304 need post-weld treatment?
Welding depletes chromium locally, so pickling and passivation restore corrosion resistance at the weld. We include it whenever the assembly is exposed to moisture.
