Sand Blasting

Sand blasting uses abrasive media to strip rust, scale, oxidation and old coatings, and to roughen surfaces so paint, adhesive or weld takes hold properly. It is a preparation process rather than a cosmetic one, though it also produces a uniform matte appearance.

FAQ

よくあるご質問

Why prime immediately after blasting?

A blasted steel surface oxidises within hours in humid air, which weakens paint adhesion. We blast and prime in sequence so the window never closes.

Can aluminium be sand blasted?

Yes with a suitable media, though it must be handled carefully because soft aluminium can embed abrasive. For cosmetic aluminium we use glass bead blasting instead.

Does blasting remove weld discolouration?

Yes, it removes heat tint and scale from welds, and we then passivate stainless to restore corrosion resistance.
