POM or nylon for gears?
POM is the better gear material because it holds dimensions with changing humidity, whereas nylon absorbs moisture and grows. Nylon suits higher impact and quieter running.
Why anneal POM parts?
Machining leaves internal stress that can cause cracking or dimensional drift. Annealing after roughing and before finishing keeps thin walls and tight bores stable.
Can POM be used in contact with chemicals?
It resists fuels, oils and neutral chemicals but is attacked by strong acids and oxidising agents. Check the specific medium with us before committing.
