PEEK

PEEK is a high-performance polymer that performs where ordinary plastics fail: continuous service at 250 °C, resistance to aggressive chemicals, and the ability to be sterilised repeatedly. It costs several times more than POM, so it is specified only where its properties are genuinely needed.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PEEK always worth the price?

No. It earns its cost in extreme temperature, aggressive chemistry, repeated sterilisation or long-life wear applications. For everything else, POM, PPS or PA-GF deliver at far lower cost.

Can PEEK be sterilised repeatedly?

Yes. PEEK withstands autoclave, gamma and EtO sterilisation without significant property loss, which is why it is common in reusable surgical instruments and dental components.

Is PEEK hard to machine?

It machines reasonably well but requires sharp tooling, conservative feeds and stress relief on complex parts. We anneal and inspect critical dimensions after machining.
