Swiss CNC Machining

Swiss machining slides the bar stock through a guide bushing so the tool cuts immediately next to the support point. Long, slender parts such as connector pins, bone screws and watch components hold tolerance instead of deflecting, which is impossible on a conventional lathe.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Swiss machining different from conventional turning?

Swiss machines support the workpiece right at the cutting point, so very small diameters and very long, slender parts can be produced without deflection. That is why the process dominates medical screws, connector pins and micro fluidic components.

Which quantities make sense?

Swiss machining is economic from a few hundred pieces up to millions because the machines run largely unattended. For single prototypes we would normally use conventional turning.

Can you supply full material certificates?

Yes — mill certificates, RoHS and REACH declarations plus inspection reports are standard with Swiss parts.
