Nickel Plating

Nickel plating produces a hard, bright and chemically resistant surface that deposits uniformly, including inside bores and on complex geometry where electroplating would build unevenly. Electroless nickel also plates onto non-conductive substrates such as plastics.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Electroless or electroplated nickel?

Electroless deposits evenly on complex shapes and non-conductive substrates, which makes it the choice for bores, internal channels and plated plastics. Electroplating is faster and cheaper for simple conductive parts.

Can aluminium be nickel plated?

Yes, with a zincate pre-treatment that provides adhesion. It is common for aluminium parts needing a hard, wear resistant or solderable surface.

Is nickel plating food safe?

Nickel release is regulated in food contact and skin contact applications, so we recommend checking the standard for your specific use before specifying it.
