FDM 3D Printing

FDM extrudes thermoplastic filament through a heated nozzle, building parts from the outside in. It is the cheapest way to make large parts, and with engineering materials such as PC and PEI it also produces jigs, fixtures and covers that survive real workshop conditions.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose FDM over SLS?

Cost and size. FDM is typically much cheaper per part for large, simple geometry and can produce parts far bigger than a powder bed. The trade-off is visible layer lines and anisotropic strength.

Are FDM parts strong enough for fixtures?

Yes, in the right material. PC, PEI and carbon-filled nylon fixtures stand up to everyday production use, and we orient the print so layers run perpendicular to the main load.

Can you print food or medical-safe parts?

We offer food-contact approved filament and PEI grades that tolerate autoclaving, but for regulated medical devices we would normally steer you to MJF in a validated material.
