5-Axis CNC Machining

Simultaneous 5-axis machining tilts the tool or the table so the cutter stays normal to the surface throughout the pass. That gives you shorter tools with less vibration, undercut access that 3-axis cannot reach, and dramatically better surface finish on contoured forms such as turbine vanes, impellers and ergonomic housings.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When is 5-axis worth the extra cost?

It pays back when a part needs multiple faces machined, when a cavity is too deep for a 3-axis tool to reach without chatter, or when a contoured surface has to be smooth without hand polishing. For simple prismatic parts 3-axis remains cheaper.

Can you machine near-net shape castings?

Yes. We routinely take castings and forgings, locate them on datums and machine critical faces, bores and sealing grooves in a single 5-axis setup.

Do you support composites?

We machine cured carbon and glass fibre laminates with diamond-coated tooling and dust extraction, which is common for motorsport and aerospace work.
