Insert Molding

Insert moulding places metal hardware into the cavity before the shot, so the plastic forms directly around it. The result is a load-rated threaded interface, an electrical connection or a rigid frame that cannot come loose the way a press-fit or ultrasonically set insert can.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose insert moulding over heat-set inserts?

A moulded-in insert is encapsulated on all sides, so it resists pull-out, torque and vibration far better than a post-installed insert. It also removes the installation step and its quality risk.

Can you handle high insert counts?

Yes. Parts with four to eight inserts are routine, and we build loading fixtures so the insert positions are repeatable shift to shift.

Does the insert need preheating?

For high-melt resins and large metal masses we preheat the insert to prevent cold welds and shrinkage voids. The DFM report states whether your part needs it.
