Sheet Metal Materials

Sheet metal work starts with the right sheet: thickness drives stiffness, springback and bend radius, while the alloy and coating determine corrosion resistance and how the part can be finished. This page covers what we cut and form and how to specify it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which stainless grade should I use outdoors?

304 handles most outdoor environments, but for coastal, marine or chemical exposure specify 316 for the molybdenum content that resists chloride pitting.

Does galvanised sheet need painting?

It can be left bare, and paint adheres well if the surface is prepared correctly. For visible parts we normally use cold rolled steel and paint it, because galvanised surface quality varies.

Can you supply material certificates?

Yes, mill certificates are provided for all sheet we source, including the standard, heat number and mechanical properties.
