Aluminium 7075-T6

7075 is a zinc-alloyed aluminium that reaches strengths comparable to mild steel while weighing a third as much. That makes it the standard choice for aerospace fittings, motorsport suspension parts and high-load brackets where every gram is analysed.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 7075 not welded?

The alloy is prone to stress corrosion cracking at weldments, so it is normally used as a machined part rather than welded structure. Where a welded high-strength assembly is needed we specify 6061 or 5083.

7075 or 6061 for brackets?

Choose 7075 when the load or the weight target demands it and the part is machined rather than welded. For everything else 6061 gives 80 % of the performance at lower material cost.

Does 7075 anodize well?

It anodizes but with a darker, less clear result than 6061, so hard anodizing or paint is preferred over clear finishes on 7075 parts.
